# How to buy and stake HYPE

A 0-to-1 guide for acquiring HYPE and staking it for stHYPE.

## Buying HYPE <a href="#buy-hype" id="buy-hype"></a>

If you don't already hold HYPE on hyperliquid.xyz, here are step-by-step instructions to getting spot HYPE balance before transferring to EVM

1. Navigate to [Hyperliquid](https://app.hyperliquid.xyz/join/VALANTIS)
2. Connect your wallet, click accept terms, and sign the message in your wallet

3. Deposit USDC
   1. USDC via Arbitrum: You must have USDC on Arbitrum in the connected wallet to complete this step, and ETH on Arbitrum to pay gas fees. Deposit at least 10 USDC directly from the deposit button shown below
   2. USDC via other EVM chains: <https://app.across.to/> supports USDC deposits from most EVM chains.
   3. USDC via Centralized Exchange: Most exchanges (OKX, Bybit, KuCoin, BitGet, and many more) today support Hyperliquid. You can process USDC withdrawals from these exchanges to the Hyperliquid network by withdrawing directly to your wallet address.

*Note: Hyperliquid now supports a variety of native deposit options, including BTC, ETH, SOL, and much more. These balances can be deposited and received as such, before being sold for USDC/USDH to then purchase HYPE.*

4. Navigate to "Portfolio". Transfer your deposited USDC from "Perps" to "Spot."

4. Navigate to the HYPE/USDC spot market, enable trading, and complete your trade to buy HYPE

## Transfer HYPE to HyperEVM

1. Locate your spot HYPE assets under "Balances."
2. Click on "Transfer to EVM" and select your desired amount

#### (Optional) Adding HyperEVM as a network to your wallet. <a href="#bridging-from-arbitrum-sepolia-to-hyperliquid-l1-testnet" id="bridging-from-arbitrum-sepolia-to-hyperliquid-l1-testnet"></a>

*Note: Most major wallets now support HyperEVM out of the box. The following info is only for wallets that do not recognize HyperEVM balances after completing step 4.*

Network Details:

* Network Name: Hyperliquid
* ChainID: 999
* RPC URL: <https://rpc.hyperliquid.xyz/evm>
* Currency Symbol: HYPE

## Staking HYPE for stHYPE

1. Navigate to <https://app.valantis.xyz/staking>
2. Connect your wallet

3. Input your desired amount
   1. (optional) Select your validator per the [community codes program](/stakedhype/community-codes.md)
4. Click Stake

*Note: It's recommended to leave a small amount of HYPE in your wallet when staking to ensure you are able to cover gas fees for future actions*

6. You now have stHYPE
   1. (optional) Explore the [stHYPE ecosystem](https://app.valantis.xyz/staking?tab=ecosystem) to lend, borrow against, earn additional yield on, and more with your stHYPE
